As I arrived
at Champagne Cottage today, I felt an instant wave of peace wash over me. Tucked within the tranquil embrace of the woods and only a stone’s throw from the shores of Lake Michigan, this little retreat feels like a treasure waiting to be unwrapped. The gentle rustling of the leaves and the promise of serene beach access have already started working their magic.
Inside,
the cottage welcomed me warmly. Two bedrooms with a lived-in charm, a cozy living room calling for quiet evenings, and the kitchen—oh, the kitchen! The butcher block countertops beg to host fresh produce from nearby markets, and the dining nook feels like the perfect corner to savor morning coffee while watching sunlight filter through the trees. And that screened-in porch? It whispers promises of stolen moments with a book or laughter over a glass of wine.
This evening,
I’m looking forward to an outdoor adventure in the backyard. Sparkling lights strung above will illuminate the laughter of family and friends as we gather around the bonfire. S’mores are non-negotiable, of course, as is the smoky aroma of a meal cooked on the charcoal grill. And when the stars emerge? A hammock awaits, cradling me as I lose myself to the rhythm of a summer breeze.

area feels like it’s brimming with possibilities. South Haven, Fennville, and the charming twin towns of Saugatuck and Douglas are a short drive away, promising quaint shops, delightful eateries, and all the small-town charm I crave. Even Glenn’s little convenience store, with its reputation for incredible sandwiches and pizza, calls to me with its simplicity and warmth.
